Get Stoned and Love Yourself - How to Find Value in Valentine’s Day.

Why Self-Love is Worth the Hype & Our Top Ways to Celebrate

Look, I know it’s easy to think of Valentine’s Day as a Hallmark card holiday, only good for the excuse to eat lots of chocolate and watch a sappy rom-com. There are a lot of Valentine’s Day Scrooges who scoff at people making romantic grand gestures or waiting on the sidelines for their crush to notice them. Fine. I get it. But even if you’re not a hopeless romantic, Valentine’s Day can still be a reminder of how important feelings of love and connectedness are to human survival. A day for self-reflection. And a day to get high and connect with what makes you happy. So if you don’t want to dine at a fancy restaurant or buy a dozen roses, you can still take the day to focus on celebrating your relationships - with others and with yourself

Treat Yourself to a Little Self-Love

Yes, I know how that sounds. But I’m serious. Self-love is an important aspect of your overall well-being that is often overlooked. Take this Valentine's Day as an opportunity to prioritize your own well-being and give yourself the love and care that you deserve. Do things that make you feel good. Give your body all the pampering and support it needs. It’s about valuing yourself, appreciating your worth, and caring for your physical, mental, and emotional health.

Where to start? Indulge in activities that bring you joy. This could be doing something as simple as taking a relaxing bubble bath or eating a delicious meal. Take a big walk in nature, practice yoga, or make time to finally crack open that book you’ve been meaning to start. Or maybe you go the extra mile and book a spa day, plan a trip, or splurge on a luxury item (you know, the one that’s been sitting in your checkout cart). The important thing is that you do something that makes you feel good, relaxed, recharged, and refreshed. It’s a chance to take a break from the demands of daily life and focus on your inner well-being.

For the Love of Cannabis

In today's fast-paced and technologically-focused world, it’s easy to feel isolated and disconnected from each other…and yourself. One of my favorite ways to reconnect and tune in to how I’m feeling is with a little help from Mother Nature. The cannabis plant is able to work naturally with your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) which plays a major role in regulating things like your mood, sleep, and pain sensation. The most popular cannabis compounds, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) have both been shown to help relieve anxiety and inflammation - especially when working together. Cannabis combined with natural terpenes gives you even more therapeutic remedies. Terpenes like linalool and pinene add their own natural anti-anxiety and stress-relieving benefits.

One of the best parts about celebrating Valentine’s Day in the year 2023 is that you have so much more control over how you consume and dose cannabis - making it a way more personal and beneficial experience. With products like midose., vape pens, and quick-dissolve tablets, you are able to dial in the doses that feel the best in your body. Whether you are in the mood for adventure or self-reflection, cannabis helps elevate the moment. So you can focus on feeling balanced and connected.

Engage in Self-Reflection

Sometimes what feels best is a little quiet time. A moment to reflect on the things you’re grateful for in life, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the things you’re proud of. You could write these thoughts down in a journal or simply acknowledge them in your mind. Or maybe you want to spread the love by reaching out to a person who has made a positive impact on your life. Practicing gratitude can make a big difference to your emotional health - turning a glass half empty into a glass half full.

Be nice to yourself. Believe me, it goes a long way. Focus on letting go of negative self-talk and being gentle with your thoughts. Practice self-compassion by speaking to yourself the way you would talk to a close friend or lover. When we work on being more self-aware we can better understand our own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Over time, it gets easier to identify the thoughts and beliefs that are holding you back from loving yourself.

Take V-Day to meditate on the positive and healthy relationship you want to cultivate with yourself - the most important relationship of your life.

Fostering a Deeper Inner Love

The love that we hold for ourselves is the foundation of our relationships and sets the tone for the love that we are able to give and receive from others. Supporting our inner love is essential for building healthy and fulfilling relationships. Here are some tips to help you support your inner love:

  1. Practice self-compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding. Be gentle with yourself when you make mistakes and recognize that everyone experiences challenges and difficulties.

  2. Prioritize self-care: Make time to recharge and rejuvenate. Because rest is just as important as working out. Spend some time outside, feed your creativity, or simply take a nap.

  3. Surround yourself with positive influences: Your relationships with others have a significant impact on your well-being. Surrounding yourself with positive influences, such as friends and family members who support and uplift you, helps promote inner love and reduces stress.

  4. Practice forgiveness: Let go of negative thoughts and feelings, and choose to focus on love and positivity instead. I know, it’s easier said than done. But whether it's forgiving ourselves for past mistakes, or forgiving others for their shortcomings, practicing forgiveness helps support your mental health and improves all relationships.

Celebrating yourself on Valentine’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to prioritize your self-care and show yourself some love. Remember, you are valuable. You are worthy.  You are deserving of love and happiness. No matter what your relationship status may be.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
