It's Time To CHILL

Better stress management with the help of cannabis, breath work & a little more you time.

The phrase “self-care” is relatively new. Born out of the same generation that proudly brought us avocado toast and selfies.  The concept that taking the time to take care of yourself, is one of the best life tips millennials gave to the world. But…what does actual self-care look like?  With so much hype built up around practicing self-care, it’s important to remember that self-care isn’t only about silk pillowcases and bath bombs, it’s also about being more in tune with your body. The cannabis plant has long been associated with introspection, relaxation, and even spiritual connection. In ancient India, cannabis was considered a sacred plant that brought happiness and freedom. Finding moments in your day for self-care breaks will not only help ease stress, it will also improve your life-long wellbeing by lowering stress hormones in the body and giving you moments to be fully IN the moment. When you give yourself a chance to feel present, you can navigate stressful situations better, find new sparks of creativity and open up new doors to problem-solving. We can’t always work hard and party hard - sometimes, we need to CHILL hard. Because doing “nothing” actually does a lot of good.

So how can cannabis help you connect with your personal version of self-care? At midose. our products are specifically designed to help you find your ideal dose, the one that will help you feel your best. Whether your dose is 3mg or 25mg, midose. can help you curate your perfect cannabis moments. What better way to do that than with a little help from mother nature.

Chill With Cannabis

First, a little breakdown of cannabis, because the science behind how cannabis works in the body is actually pretty cool.  The cannabis plant contains over 100 different cannabinoids - or natural compounds. Out of all these cannabinoids, the most well-known is Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. But as research continues, we’re discovering the therapeutic benefits of some of the other cannabinoids.  The cannabinoid Cannabidiol (CBD) helps reduce inflammation and boosts your mood. Our dear friend cannabigerol (CBG) is the O.G. of cannabinoids and is growing in popularity for its antimicrobial, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.  During early life, the cannabis plant contains primarily CBGA, but as it matures CBG is converted into CBD and THC.

It’s these cannabinoids that are the key to why cannabis is able to interact with your body so well.  Why?  In 1988, scientists discovered a previously unknown system called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).  Your ECS is responsible for regulating bodily functions like pain processing, immune response, sleep, and mood. And how does it do this? You guessed it: cannabinoids, or in this case endo-cannabinoids (“endo” meaning internal).  The ECS is made up of endocannabinoids and cannabinoid receptors located throughout your nervous system, immune system, and brain.

Okay, this is the part that’s really dope.  Cannabis plant cannabinoids are able to naturally activate your ECS to help restore balance by elevating your mood, easing pain, and reducing inflammation.  Because sometimes the body needs a little help.  So when you need to take a beat, our midose. CHILL blend is here to give you a moment of calm. Our special blend of THC, CBD, CBG, mint, chamomile, and the natural terpenes limonene and caryophyllene help your body let go of tension and stress. All these natural remedies work together to help you chill the f*ck out. No matter what your cannabis experience is, midose. allows you to temper your dose to your mood. The dose that works best for you is different from the dose that works for someone else and can even change over time depending on your body, your needs, and your circumstances.

Take A Deep Breath

When presented with a stressful situation, many of us have been told to “take a deep breath.” It’s go-to advice we’ve heard our whole lives, but why? When you take a deep breath (diaphragmatic breathing), it sends a rush of oxygen throughout your body, which helps ease anxiety and calm your nerves. How?  It has to do with your autonomic nervous system, which is in charge of bodily functions that automatically happen without you thinking about it - like breathing, digestion, and heart rate.  The autonomic nervous system is composed of the sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for your fight or flight response to stressors. The fight or flight response is triggered during stressful situations, raising your heart rate, blood pressure, and putting your body on high alert by increasing your cortisol levels - a major stress hormone. On the other hand, the parasympathetic nervous system controls your rest and relaxation response.

More and more people are finding themselves burnt out or living with some degree of chronic stress. Chronic stress is a symptom of living in a constant state of fight or flight mode and can lead to trouble sleeping, fatigue, and mood swings.  Taking deep breaths helps to soothe your sympathetic nervous system, calming your nerves and easing stress or anxiety in the body.

Meditation can be a great way to practice deep breathing. I know, I know…everyone always asks “have you tried meditating?” And look, I know meditation isn’t for everyone. But the root of what meditation is and can do for you is without a doubt valuable. Taking time (even if it’s only a few minutes) to breathe and be still with yourself is paramount to keeping your body and mind functioning optimally.  So load up your phone with a helpful meditation app, so you can practice guided meditation anywhere - on your lunch break, in the Uber, or the closet (moms, you know what I’m talking about).

Brainwaves for Days

Did you know music or sound frequencies can have therapeutic benefits beyond being a good banger?  Brainwave frequencies (or electrical activity) like Gamma, Alpha, Beta, and Delta are all tied to certain states of being.  By playing particular frequencies, you can stimulate certain brainwave responses. Need to focus on a big project at work? Gamma (38-100 Hz) is a brainwave frequency that’s been found to help with concentration, learning, and creativity.  During your chill reflective moments try turning on music with Alpha (around 7.5-12.4 Hz) frequencies to help calm the brain, relax, and find a more creative flow. Alpha has been found to reduce stress by assisting in the production of serotonin and lowering cortisol levels.

More You Time

What you decide to do for your daily practice of self-care is totally up to you. Whether that’s meditating in the morning, taking periodic dance breaks at work, taking a long walk, or…soaking in the bath with a face mask and a good bottle of wine.  Thinking about self-care holistically will lead to lasting benefits. I’m not saying Sunday-Funday can’t also be part of self-care, I’m just saying to make sure to be conscious of what actually makes you feel good internally. Incorporating cannabis into your daily routine may be just the ticket to finding a little more balance.

Turns out millennials were on to something.  When you take time to chill, you are creating more time for inner growth and peace.
